Our Mission

Our mission is the advancement of skills and education to improve the lives of individuals.

Skills and Education Group benefits from more than one hundred years of collective experience. Our member organisations offer high-quality services, support, and representation to the education and skills sector locally, nationally and internationally through our partnerships.


Our Vision

  1. To provide an umbrella legal structure for our founding charities
  2. To develop and provide a range of services within a single organisational group structure
  3. To enable other charities and companies, which align with our charitable objectives, to join us for the continuation of their mission and vision
  4. To enhance and realise the objectives of our founding charities and future member organisations
  5. To actively seek platforms for the collective voice of the Skills and Education Group and its member bodies to be heard.

Meet the Team

Meet the dedicated and passionate leaders behind the Skills and Education Group.

Paul Eeles

Chief Executive

Paul has over 30 years’ experience in the post-16 skills sector, including seven years as a lecturer and 13 years managing work based learning with colleges and independent providers. Before becoming our Chief Executive, Paul worked at the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) as Director of Sector Reforms and 14 to 19. Paul is also the Chair of the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB).

Paul holds a Degree in Business Management, jointly from The University of Central England and The Birmingham College of Food, a Post Graduate Diploma in Training Management from the University of Wolverhampton and a Masters in Personnel and Development from the University of Plymouth.


Simon Feneley-Lamb

Chief Operating Officer

Simon has worked in the further education sector for 20 years within business, marketing and project development. Prior to that, he worked in a training and development role for a large public limited company.

Simon holds a Masters in Business Administration from Nottingham Trent University and a Diploma in Management Studies. Simon is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.


Fiona Grant

Director of Awarding Services

Fiona has held senior positions with a number of private training providers. As Director for an accreditation body, she had responsibility for the strategic management and delivery of national and international quality standards. She has worked closely with a number of Government Departments, including the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Health in the design and development of the Matrix Standard, Merlin Standard and Information Standard.

Fiona is a champion of further education, having progressed her career through the achievement of vocational qualifications and continuous professional development. She has trained in Leadership and Management, Business and Finance, Performance Coaching and as an Auditor, Assessor, Tutor, Internal Verifier, External Moderator and ALI Inspector.
